Job Description

Title: Zest Quest® Wellness Coach

Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating and implementing the Zest Quest® curriculum, focusing on nutrition and physical activity, in an assigned school. The Wellness Coach will coordinate the Zest Quest® initiative with the school administration and facilitate a health and wellness program for students, faculty and staff, parents, school and community.

Reports to: Zest Quest® Program Director


  1. Teach the Zest Quest® curriculum to all students in grades K5 5th at assigned school
  2. Provide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education services to eligible audiences
  3. Facilitate the Faculty/Staff Wellness Challenge
  4. Develop and facilitate a School Wellness Council
  5. Plan and implement a minimum of four parent programs at assigned school, including a Health Fair
  6. Assist other wellness coaches with parent programs
  7. Coordinate the use of community-based mentors to encourage students to adopt healthy life choices
  8. Promote Zest Quest® at school-wide functions
  9. Develop before and after school wellness opportunities for students, faculty/staff and/or parents/caregivers
  10. Work within the school to implement a culture of wellness
  11. Participate in Zest Quest® staff meetings
  12. Participate in summer training
  13. Support funding efforts to include grant proposals, donor requests, fundraising events, etc.
  14. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


  • A bachelor's degree in education, health or related subject
  • Experience in working with elementary-age children
  • Ability to maintain a current certification in a health/wellness field
  • Ability to maintain current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to lead extended periods of physical activity for students/adults
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High proficiency with personal computer
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
